Wetlands are key to the long term survival of waterfowl. The Gulf oil spill could have a dramatic and long term impact these systems.

A number of large fish kills in Louisiana have left many wondering whether they were a result of the Gulf oil disaster. Thousands of dead Menhaden in canals and large bull redfish washing up on beaches have locals pointing fingers at BP. Authorities at both NOAA and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries have yet to document that any fish have been killed as a direct result of the oil but many remain skeptical.

NWF is very active in the sportsmen’s community. In wake of the BP oil disaster, NWF and the Vanishing Paradise program asks sportsmen and women to unite to restore coastal Louisiana.
