Sportman's Paradise is like few other places in the world in terms of its abundance and diversity of fish and wildlife. Sadly, the tapestry is unraveling as Louisiana's coast vanishes.

Recently, Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) released its draft of the 2017 Coastal Master Plan - a plan that serves as the blueprint for the state's coastal restoration and protection activities.

In the draft plan, CPRA provides a prioritized list of $50 billion in coastal restoration and risk-reduction activities to address the state's increasingly severe land loss and sea level rise. The Master Plan seeks to reduce risks from storm surge flooding and rebuild and sustain critical wildlife and fisheries habitats to ensure a stronger future for Louisiana's coast.

CPRA is hosting meetings this month along the coast to discuss projects in the draft and receive feedback. Please join other sportsmen and women to learn about the draft plan and support science-based coastal restoration.

The Coastal Master Plan is a roadmap for coastal restoration and protection activities over the next 50 years. It is required by state law to be updated every five years to account for the best available science. This update builds on prior Coastal Master Plans released in 2012 and 2007.

We hope you will join us at one of the upcoming CPRA meetings to learn more about the 2017 draft plan. Please email Erin Brown to let us know if you plan to attend or would like assistance with talking points if you want to speak.
