Restoring Critical Duck Habitat in Bay Denesse

The Bay Denesse Delta Water Management Project could restore approximately 2,550 acres of less productive open water to a diverse array of highly productive habitat types, including emergent marsh, rooted floating vegetation mats, mud flats and more. Check out photos from a recent site visit.

By increasing the flow of sediment-laden Mississippi river water into open waters of Bay Denesse, this project will construct marsh terraces to facilitate sediment capture and marsh accretion.

This is a joint effort by Vanishing Paradise, Ducks Unlimited, North American Wetlands Conservation Council and Louisiana’s Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority.
